We all need time out from the horrors of the world. That's why beauty, in all its guises, is so important. Here's an example. John Unger and his beloved dog Schoep, floating in the water to ease Schoep's arthritis. This picture was taken last year by Unger's friend Hannah Stonehouse Hudson.
Schoep died on Wednesday. He lived a long life for a dog: 20 years.
R.I.P., Schoep. Our lives are all made richer by our beautiful companions.
