Every time you think the hypocrisy, barbarity, and venality of this country can't be topped, you're proven wrong. It's not enough that states and municipalities have criminalized poverty, all over the country, in all sorts of ways, now they've taken it one step further: they're actually crowing about it, and boo-hoo-ing over their terrible plight in being forced to witness homelessness.
As I wrote two days ago, our DHS overlords were fretting about Terroristy Toothpaste Bombs. Well, now their paranoia is complete: along with their bumbling handmaiden, the TSA, they've banned all -- all, mind you -- toothpaste, deodorant, hairspray, baby powder, and whatever other liquid, aerosol, powder, gel personal grooming substances you can think of, from carry-on luggage for flights headed to the Olympics in Sochi, Russia. (And let's not forget those terrorist cupcakes!)
Every day, this country becomes more and more like something out of The Onion. I know it's a cliché to say you can't make this shit up, but the fact is you can't make this shit up.

Really, you can't make this shit up. These people have no sense of themselves other than as characters in a science fiction novel. I don't have words for the levels of inanity, depravity, obliviousness, arrogance, unintentional revelation, and just plain immaturity this represents.
